Nano Poblano 2017- 30 Days of Haiku- Day 13

Early Monday post
While the clock says it’s morning
But the world still sleeps

The day is only
One hour old and it’s still
Hours till daylight

It’s dark and quiet
As I sit listening to
The gears of the clock

The tick tock of the
Seconds in the small hours
Of another day

Life in the stillness
Time for reflection and thought
And then sleep and dreams

  1. It is really addictive listening to the gears in a clock or the ticking of a loud clock itself when there are no other sounds going on. It is peaceful and relaxing, perhaps because of the regular rhythm. It’s like watching a hard drive defrag itself and the animation that re-orders the pieces. It’s hugely boring and mundane, yet somehow mesmerising to watch the blocks being moved around to where they need to be. Satisfying and stress relieving. Or that could just be me being really weird. I really like your last haiku too – the lines “reflection and thought/sleep and dreams” pair exceptionally well together, like wine and cheese or Netflix and snacks 🙂
