This is a follow-up to this post from a few days ago.

Nano Poblano 2016 – Day 19: I used to be an artist…

I used to be an artist.

Or, more accurately, I used to draw.

I still own all the supplies. The sketchbooks, colored pencils, crayons, expensive markers, and not so expensive markers.
They haven’t been used to create anything original in at least a couple years though. The last time I remember creating something was while we were living in our last place. The expensive markers have instead been used to color in coloring pages printed off the internet.

I used to draw things from Garfield cartoons that interested me. People assumed I traced things, but they were drawn freehand using the comic for reference.

I drew pictures of the characters of the “book” that my best friend and I were writing together back in middle school and the beginning years of highschool.

I tried my hand at the sort of art that my husband likes to draw and really enjoyed it. I added color where it used to only be black and white.

I used to do all this, but now when I have an idea of something to try and draw relating to Nano Poblano by the time I sit down to try and make it happen the only thing I can remember from my larger idea is that it involved heart shaped balloons with peppers on them. I attempt to draw at least that, hoping the rest will come back to me, but the results are frustrating to me, and I feel silly for thinking that any of the other Tiny Peppers would want to see my idea even if I could get it right, so into the recycling bin it goes. The larger picture in my head never reveals itself again.

I used to draw.

I used to be an artist.

More new artwork- 7/29/13…

This latest bit of artwork started out as something that my husband was drawing until he discovered that it wouldn’t work out the way that he wanted it to using his “rules” for these types of drawings. He does almost all of his graph paper drawings in black and white, and the coloring has to alternate between black and white without a black space touching a another black space or a white space touching another white space. He got as far as drawing the second layer when he discovered that it wouldn’t work. I saw it really liked the look of it. I pointed out to him that if you used more than just black and white, it could work. He gave me his original drawing and told me to go ahead and use it if I wanted to. So I copied the first two layers to another piece of graph paper, and used color instead of black and white, then added the third and final layer. The end result is one of my favorite graph paper drawings that I’ve done yet.

Some new artwork to share…

I just finished coloring in a new piece of artwork a few hours ago. Well technically it’s not really a new piece of artwork. It’s one of a bunch of finished but un-inked or colored pieces I found a while ago, and I just finally got around to coloring it in the last couple of days. There are 2 remaining pieces that still need to be colored, and once they are I will share them with all of you. I will also be adding this new piece to my “My Artwork” page after I post this.

Some new and newly found artwork…

During my absence from blogging I finished a few new pieces of artwork and found a few more pieces that I had previously finished. I have added them all to my “My Artwork” page.

Here are the new pieces that I just recently finished.

A couple of quotes and some new artwork…

I was reading other peoples blogs again today, when I came across this post. It was just what I needed to see today. I decided to go ahead and copy a few of my favorite quotes from this post and share them with you on my post.

“Eating is not something to be ashamed if or forgiven for.
And, so what if someone gains weight? Then What? You are no
longer you? You will no longer have your job or your kids or
your thoughts or your memories? No one will love you?
Bullshit! We must learn to stop equating our beloved self
worth with our oh so very temporary bodies.”

can eat whenever,
wherever, whatever you want
don’t let your eating disorder control you.
YOU can win, you will beat this.”

In a recent post I talked about sharing with you some artwork that I was going to try to create if it turned out the way that I hoped it would. Well, here it is. I hope that you all like it.

First new artwork in years…

I ended up getting up the courage to pick up a pencil and draw again for the first time in years, a couple of nights ago. I’m pretty happy with the results.

This is before coloring.

And after being colored.

I think I’ll try something slightly different with this style a little later… If it works out how I’d like it to, I’ll share the results on here when it’s finished.
