Husband and I made
Homemade hand sanitizer
Out in the kitchen
Add that to the list
Of things we ne’er thought we’d do
During our lifetimes
I guess this is part
Of the “new normal” that the
Pandemic has brought
Husband and I made
Homemade hand sanitizer
Out in the kitchen
Add that to the list
Of things we ne’er thought we’d do
During our lifetimes
I guess this is part
Of the “new normal” that the
Pandemic has brought
Planning for future
Figuring out shopping lists
Planning shopping trips
By some miracle
I had the house to myself
For too short a time
And my mind went blank
I had no idea how to
Make the best of it
So I mostly just
Enjoyed the unexpected
Quiet for a bit
Try to plan for the
Future, but it’s slippery
I can’t quite catch it
It moves way too fast
I can’t quite get a good look
And see it’s true shape
It is soft spoken
I can’t quite catch the message
It’s trying to send
I can almost smell
The scents and perfumes of it
But only a whiff
Its taste is on the
Tip of my tongue, but it’s like
It’s a memory
I try to rush things
But my electric toothbrush
Won’t rush two minutes
It keeps perfect time
Even though I would rather
It would hurry up
You’ll get up early
I instruct myself as I
Go to bed at night
Technically I do
I get up when my husband’s
Alarm wakes us up
Wish him a good day
As he gets ready for work
And kiss him goodbye
Then I lie back down
“Only for a little bit”
But then hours pass
And then once again
I have failed at getting up
When I wanted to
I guess my body
Must be needing all this sleep
That it is getting
But I could also
Put good use to all that time
I’ve lost to sleeping
And so the cycle
Of hope and then frustration
Keeps going around
Rainy, windy day
Please stay, please don’t go away
I find you soothing
Woke up in bad mood
Everyone is way too loud
Please just go away
Need to be alone
Need solitude and quiet
But I can’t escape
Wandered my backyard
In search of wildflowers to
Photograph and share
Not as abundant
As I was hoping they’d be
Enjoyed the fresh air
Yesterday I chipped
Off part of the porcelain
Covering my crown
That sounds quite silly
Until you find out that it’s
A part of my tooth
I accidentally
Ended up swallowing it
That part of my crown
There’s a porcelain
Bit floating around somewhere
Inside of me now
I called my dentist
And she didn’t seem worried
Because there’s no pain
She’ll fix me right up
As soon as the pandemic
Loosens it’s grip some
Because you cannot
Be an effective dentist
