So, if I’m a featured artist, does that make me an “artist”…

Today some of my artwork has been featured over on the blog of Pondering Spawned as part of her ongoing “World Through Our Eyes” Project.   I was first introduced to this project when my husband discovered her blog and decided to submit something. His feature piece can be found here. I had thought that it was all well and good that he had submitted something to this project, because I view him a real artist, but I did not think that I would likely be submitting anything of my own. It’s been years since I’ve created any original artwork, and don’t really see myself as an “artist”. Then I realized that just because I may not create art in the form of pictures as often anymore, that doesn’t mean that I don’t create.

I am driven to write. To sit down in front of my computer with my fingers flying over the keys while the words pour out of me and onto the screen. Often, when I sit down to write I have no idea what will flow through my fingers and onto the page, I just feel the need to let the words out of my head and into the world. I let them guide me and I lose myself in them. I often come away from having sat down to write with a better understanding of what is going on inside the “Controlled Chaos” that is my mind.

Now that my artwork, as well as my words, have been featured as part of this project I think I might try my hand at drawing again. To see what things might have been locked up inside my mind for these last few years where I haven’t drawn…

It still feels weird to be called an “artist” though…
